3 pieces – 2 Northwest composers – 1 Divine inspiration. J.S. Bach composed Cantata #12 Weinen, Klagen, Sorgen, Zagen (Weeping, wailing, fretting, fearing)for the third Sunday after Easter in 1714.
Bach’s music has inspired composers from his day to the present. Damien Geter, interim Music Director of the Portland Opera, was inspired by Bach’s Cantata #12 to compose Cantata for a More Hopeful Tomorrow. Written for choir, soloist, and cello, Getter composed his Cantata during the pandemic. It blends Bach’s music with American spirituals and expresses the process of moving from fear to hope.
Our third piece is the world premiere of Jot – The Ultimate Light by Northwest jazz pianist and composer Jasnam Daya Singh. Inspired by his Sihki faith, Jot is dedicated to the idea of the “Divine Light.” Composed for our Elysium Quartet (piano, clarinet, violin, cello) Jot – The Ultimate Light blends jazz and classical styles. Join the Bravo! Chamber Choir and Elysium Quartet as we cross boundaries of Classical, Spirituals, and Jazz in this musical trilogy.

This concert is Charlie Chaplin's classic silent film The Gold Rush performed with LIVE orchestra!
The Gold Rush is considered Charlie Chaplin's greatest silent film, and made him an international star.
Set in the 1890's Alaskan Klondike Gold Rush, Chaplin plays the role of a poor, lonely prospector, who ventures north in hope of finding fortune.
Through his comedic adventures he fights villains, falls in love with a beautiful girl, strikes it rich, and sails home from Alaska, a millionaire!
With classic scenes such as the "dance of the dinner rolls" and a meal of boiled shoe leather, The Gold Rush shows the comedic genius of Chaplin - and is just plain fun!
Bring your family and friends as we celebrate the 100th anniversary of this classic silent film, featuring music composed by Charlie Chaplin.
This is a concert that is entertaining for ALL ages. Remember - students ages 18 and younger are free to our concerts.

George Frideric Handel’s MESSIAH is a musical tradition of the Christmas season. Handel composed this music in just 24 days - an astonishing and epic artistic feat. For many people, Handel’s MESSIAH is “Holiday entertainment” – like a Mannheim Steamroller Christmas show. Other people consider it one of the great masterpieces of Western music. And why not? It tells a dramatic story with songs that are memorable for their emotional power and beautiful melodies, like the instantly recognizable Hallelujah Chorus. One thing is true – nearly 300 years after it was composed, Handel’s MESSIAH continues to inspire listeners and musicians with its beauty and genius. Our Bravo! Chamber Choir, soloists and Orchestra are led by conductor Maria Manzo.
NOTE: A second performance of Messiah is on Sunday, Dec 15th @ 3 PM at Augustana Lutheran Church. If you buy a 3-CONCERT SERIES TICKET, you can use your ticket for the December 8th or 15th MESSIAH concert at either location.
